As a photographer, there’s little more exciting that witnessing an amazing sunset. Here on the Rio de las Vueltas the lenticular clouds beautifully complement the curve of the river. This location became one of my favourite spots as the great expanse of sky above the mountains often provides some interest. All too frequently the wind howls through the gorge. In an attempt to create some form of shelter I piled a few rocks up to create a cairn. As time went by (at least 50 visits) that pile of stones grew until the cairn was clearly visible on Google Earth. I perhaps shouldn’t have done this because technically it is within the boundary of the national park. I have however been told that it’s not causing a problem provided people don’t leave rubbish. I’m told it has become a popular place to shoot so if you do visit please keep it tidy.
